Wyzant is the granddaddy of US online tutoring. Real product, real tutors, real outcomes for K-12 and standardized test prep. Their average tutor rate is ~$25-$60/hour (Wyzant pricing page, May 2026) and they take a 25% commission from tutor earnings.
If you're prepping a 10th-grader for the SAT, Wyzant is a legitimate choice. If you're an adult learner trying to pick up Spanish, design, or coding for yourself — there's a structurally cheaper option.

A Wyzant lesson is a buyer-seller transaction. A TRADDE swap is a barter:

- Your partner teaches what you want.

- No money changes hands. No 25% rake.
This isn't a replacement for K-12 academic tutoring (where Wyzant excels — please don't barter your kid's algebra prep). It's a replacement for adult discretionary learning.

Is the Sparks-only payment model legit or a workaround?
Deliberate Path-A design — closed-loop currency keeps the platform skill-focused instead of becoming a gig marketplace. Tournament prizes (donor-funded) are the one USD exception.
