# Preply Alternative: Zero Booking Fees, Real Teachers

Preply built a real marketplace for language tutors. The product works, the tutors are vetted, the booking flow is smooth. If you have $10-$40/hour to spend on a live tutor, Preply is a credible choice.
What Preply doesn't show you upfront: tutors lose 18-33% of their fee to Preply's commission (per their tutor support page, May 2026), and first-lesson trials are subject to a 100% commission on the first booking. That cost gets baked into the per-hour rate. You're paying for the marketplace as much as you're paying for the teacher.

TRADDE: zero booking fees for the swap loop
TRADDE's core mechanic is mutual skill exchange, not paid tutoring. You teach English to a native Spanish speaker, they teach Spanish to you. Both sides earn ⚡ 50 Sparks per completed swap. No money changes hands. No 33% commission, because there's no payment in the first place.
When you do want to hire (Coach mode), TRADDE charges a flat 10% platform fee versus Preply's ~25%. Same job, less rake.

When Preply still wins
- You want a hired, professional tutor on a tight syllabus for an exam (IELTS, TOEFL, DELF). Preply's tutor curation for test prep is genuinely good.
- You hate the swap model and want a clean buyer-seller relationship. Fair.
